Mission Statement

Christian Caring—Enhancing lives through a commitment to individualized care in a home empowered by God’s love.

Vision Statement

Serving individuals through our continuous tradition of quality with premier hospitality and professionalism in all areas of senior living.

Purpose

For 50 years the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home has been providing quality housing and compassionate care for seniors. We are committed to providing affordable housing options to meet a variety of lifestyles and health care needs. Our mission emphasizes the value we place on people and our dedication to sustaining residents' independence and quality of life. Assistance services are available for those who desire to remain independent, but need help with a few activities.

Philosophy

The vision of the Lutheran Home is clear: to provide a home that demonstrates concern for the spiritual, emotional, recreational and physical needs of each resident. To that end we:
  • respect the individuality of our residents and support personal choices that allow each resident to utilize our continuum of care services on their terms.
  • strive to make retired peoples’ individual lives better through Christian love and care.
  • believe in family; once a resident of the Lutheran Home, always a resident, regardless of changing personal circumstances.
  • minister to people of all religious affiliations with a Christian commitment to the concern and care for each individual.
  • offer a friendly neighborhood, quality staff, and a secure, safe place to live.
History

In October, 1955, a group of men, all members of seven Lutheran churches in the Cedar Valley, stepped out in faith and laid plans to build the Lutheran Home. As a private corporation, the fledgling organization raised $350,000 in the seven churches. Trusting that God would bless this project, the first three-wing unit was built and opened on June 1, 1958.

Trusting in the vision of the Lutheran Home pioneers, Mrs. Sena Rownd generously provided fifteen acres of land for the new construction. Early supporters not only understood the need but also were confident that the vision of the proposed Lutheran Home would be successfully carried out.

The Lutheran Home served primarily individuals affiliated with the Lutheran Church. However, as the years passed, the vision of the founders broadened. Today, the Lutheran Home is sponsored by seven area churches, and serves a diverse community with a wide variety of ethnic and religious backgrounds.
